'Future of Education Computing' Recognized via Award from National School Boards Association

Wyse Customer Western Wayne School District named to Prestigious "20 to Watch" List for Virtual Desktop Implementation

Wyse Technology, the global leader in thin computing and client virtualization, today announced that Brian Seaman, Network Administrator at the Western Wayne School District in Northeast Pennsylvania has been named by the National School Boards Association’s Technology Leadership Network (TLN) annual list of "20 to Watch" emerging leaders in education technology.  These individuals are recognized by NSBA for championing technology initiatives that make a difference for students, teachers, school districts, and the greater education technology community.

According to Ann Flynn, Director of Education Technology for NSBA, "This year's '20 to Watch' represents educators who see the potential that technology brings to the learning environment, and who know how to translate that knowledge in a way that excites and inspires their students and colleagues."

Brian Seaman was recognized for his leadership in identifying technology solutions that both help the district save money and better serve its students.  His decision involved a move away from a PC infrastructure toward one based on Wyse virtual clients.  Using this strategy, Western Wayne now has more computers that have better security and require less maintenance.  Since the district no longer has to purchase and replace PCs on an annual basis, it saves $70,000 per year.

"I believe that what we are deploying today is the future of education computing," according to Seaman.  "For any school or university that's wondered whether thin clients can make their IT arm a more efficient department -- all while saving time, money and energy costs -- the answer is a resounding 'yes.'   We are phasing out PCs in favor of virtual clients throughout the district."

"Wyse would like to congratulate all of this year's '20 to Watch' winners," said Maryam Alexandrian, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Channels at Wyse Technology.  "They are at the forefront of helping today's student become tomorrow's leaders.  Leading innovators need innovative technology and Wyse is proud to have played a role at Western Wayne and elsewhere with an unmatched combination of hardware expertise and our innovative virtualization software solutions."

Mr. Seaman and the other technology leaders will be recognized at NSBA's annual Technology and Learning Conference, T+L, which will take place Oct. 28-30, in Denver.
