Challenge: Adding beds was easier than adding PCs
When Gwinnett Medical Center (GMC) built its flagship hospital in Lawrenceville in the mid 1980s, fewer than 300,000 people lived in Gwinnett County. Today, more than 800,000 live there, and the excellent reputation of the GMC not-for-profit heathcare network draws in even more. GMC now serves more than 400,000 patients annually with its 500 licensed beds. Just in the past three years, it has added 150 beds.
