A boisterous gathering is taking place and chatter and laughter resound- not the sort of scene you would expect to see upon entering the 3rd floor hall of Sugamo Shinkin's head office. The space is routinely provided for community events- in this case, festival-goers from a nearby temple have gathered for the refreshments which the bank provides. A few days later, the hall is again filled as a traditional Rakugo storyteller puts on a show.

Formed in 1922, Sugamo Shinkin is a credit union with a long history, yet their mission has always been one and the same: "To provide local people with the support they need to live wealthy and prosperous lives." They see their contribution to the community extending beyond the financial services they provide, and the provision of this space for local events is one example of their approach. In 2009 they decided to upgrade their IT systems to a virtual desktop environment supported by Wyse cloud client computing technology.
