Better Connections to Serve Citizens in Puerto Rico
For the General Court
of Justice (Tribunales) in Puerto Rico success means responding
more quickly to cases to better serve all Puerto Rican citizens.
And the IT department does its part by creating technology solutions
that speed access to important information and ease communications.
Tribunales replaced dumb terminals with Wyse® Winterm thin clients,
and expanded access to email, the Internet, and productivity software
without changing their mainframe case management system.
Tribunales handles
more than 400,000 cases each year and has 4500 employees in 70 courthouses
throughout the island. As the new computing and communication system
rolls out to remote sites across the island, employees are finding
new ways to improve their service.
Solution Architecture
- Wyse Winterm thin clients
- Applications: Terminal emulation, Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Explorer
- Servers: Windows 2000 Terminal Services Edition

"The
main surprise was the ease with which the project rolled out.
When we get out to the remote courthouses on the island, they
tell us how easy it was to adapt to using the Wyse Winterm
thin clients."
